These days, more and more people are becoming concerned with their impacts on the environment. Companies are beginning to realize how important it is for them to start using green alternatives and limiting harmful chemicals when maintaining their homes and businesses.
Vortex Cleaning is proud to meet our clients’ needs when it comes to cleaning responsibly, and we will never compromise on our values. If you also want to know how to clean your home while avoiding the use of harsh chemicals, then check out the following tips that you can follow on your own.
Sinks
Using citrus is a good way to make your kitchen sink shine just like new. You can actually use some cut-up grapefruit or lemon, sprinkle salt on the inside, and wipe off your sink. Let it sit for a bit, and then rinse off with water, and you’ll see your kitchen sink gleam.
Showerhead
If you’re dealing with a clogged showerhead, then you can add some vinegar into a plastic bag, enough to cover the showerhead. Attach the bag with the vinegar to your shower head using rubber bands. Let the vinegar sit over your showerhead overnight, and then the next time you use your shower, your water should be flowing better than it was before.
Floors
You can also use vinegar to clean your hardwood floors. Using vinegar and water is a great method to make your hardwood floors sparkle. You’ll just need to mix ¼ cup of vinegar with 1 litre of water, and your floor cleaner is ready to go. If your floor is tiled, you can use boiling water instead.
Washing Machine
You need to do something called descaling once in a while to keep your washing machine working like new. Limescale builds up inside of your washing machine due to the soaps and detergents you use in them. To descale them, put 80g of citric acid into an empty washing machine and then set it to its hottest wash cycle option and let it do the work of cleaning itself.
Carpet
To remove any carpet stains you find on your carpet, you can mix a ratio of 1:2 vinegar and water and wipe down the stain. Once the stain is fully saturated, you will want to cover it with a wet cloth and place an iron over top of it for no longer than one minute. If this doesn’t lift the stain on the first try, then repeat the steps over again, and it should be gone.
Mattress
Mattresses are great at collecting all types of stains, grime, and dirt, so giving it a good clean every once in a while is a good idea. To help avoid harsh chemicals when cleaning, mix a 1:3 ratio of vodka and water. Then, spray it onto the mattress and wipe it down. The solution will instantly kill any bacteria being harbored in your mattress as well as disinfect it at the same time.
